Dr. Charles C. Chen, a Periodontist held in high esteem by his colleagues, graduated from the University of Maryland receiving a B.S. degree and a D.D.S. degree. At the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, University of Maryland, he participated in the Accelerated Professional Training (Honors) Program to obtain his dental degree. He continued studies there, completing his Post-Doctoral Residency in Periodontics.

After Graduation, he was invited to join the practice of his mentors, Drs. Zupnik and Winson and has enjoyed a wonderful fellowship. In his spare time, he has taught the Post-graduate Periodontal Residency Program; conducted Connective Tissue research, receiving a U.S. patent on Bone/tissue regeneration. He is the founding member of numerous Dental Organizations, and is currently participating with Federal and State initiatives shaping the regulations on digitizing Dental records for patient safety in Prescription drugs.

He was listed by Washingtonian magazine as one of the Top Periodontists in every issue published, also named in the Bethesda Magazine, as well as by the Washington Consumer Checkbook and Angie’s List. He received the perfect score by the Consumer Checkbook for care and service (voted by the patients,) and received the most votes as the Best Periodontist selected by his peers.

Eddie Zupnik is a 1992 Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Maryland Dental School, and was awarded his Periodontal Certificate from Maryland in 1994. Dr. Zupnik received Board Certification from the Board of the American Academy of Periodontology in 1998.Dr. Zupnik has a highly specialized dental implant practice which also includes treatment for all aspects of periodontal care. He is one of the few specialists in the area trained in the Wilckodontic assisted orthodontic procedure.

For many years, Dr. Zupnik has been recognized by Washingtonian magazine as a Top Dentist in the DC Metropolitan area, an achievement that reflects his dedication to helping patients keep their smiles.

In his down time, Dr. Zupnik loves spending time with his wife and kids. On weekends, you are likely find him in the local trails on his mountain bike or dodging traffic on his road bike.

Dr. Alec Yen, a board certified Periodontal specialist, received his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. He continued his advanced general dentistry training with University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for one year before returning to Tufts for his Certificate in Periodontics.

After graduation in 2004, Dr. Yen worked full time in private practice in the Boston area and served as part-time Assistant Clinical Professor and Research Associate at Tufts Dental. He left Boston in 2007 and joined the practice of ZCZ Perio in Maryland. Currently, he is a Dean’s Faculty member at the University of Maryland Dental School. He has published in the Journal of Periodontology on topics related to gum grafts, bone grafts, dental implants, and treatment of periodontal disease.

Dr. Yen is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, Maryland State Dental Association, and Southern Maryland Dental Society. In the past few years, he has served as club secretary and president for the Chinese Dental Study Club. Dr. Yen is an avid believer in continuing education and follower of latest techniques and procedures in periodontal, regenerative, and implant treatments.

Dr. Wong is a graduate of Barnard College in New York City where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. She then continued on to receive her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from New York University, graduating with honors and earning membership into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Honor Society. Dr. Wong received her Certificate in Periodontics and Masters of Science in Dentistry from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she served as chief resident. While in residency, Dr. Wong volunteered with the Mission of Mercy Project providing free dental care for the uninsured and under-served population in Wise County, Virginia.

Dr. Wong recently became board certified and is now a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology. She is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology and American Dental Association. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, fitness, and photography.
